This action adventure game was first released in 2012 and is considered a direct sequel to the 2011 installment, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. The game was developed by the studio Ubisoft Montreal and was published by the main Ubisoft. It features both a single player campaign and a multiplayer mode.

The game was released for Microsoft Windows, the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and the Wii U.. The release dates for the PS3 and Xbox 360 dates were October 30, 2012 in North America and October 31 in Europe and Australia. The Wii U versions released on November 18, 2012 in North America and November 30 in Europe and Australia. The Windows version of the game was released on November 20 in North America, November 22 in Australia, and November 23 in Europe.

A Season Pass was announced on October 3, 2012 that gave players access to the three upcoming DLC packs if they had the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions of the game. The first DLC pack was the Hidden Secrets Pack and was released on December 4 for those with the season pass and on December 11 for those without it. Wii U users got the season pass on January 17, 2013. This DLC unlocked three new missions, three weapons, and two single player costumes, as well as two multiplayer characters. All of the content available in this DLC was previously available for those who pre-ordered the game through different retailers.

The second DLC pack was called the Battle Hardened Pack. It was also released on December 4 to those with the season pass. PS3 and Xbox 360 users received the pack on January 8, 2013 while PC users had to wait until January 15, and Wii U users until January 17th. This pack released two new multiplayer characters and three new maps for the player to use.

The third DLC pack, the Tyranny of King Washington was split into three different packs. The first part was titled “The Infamy,” the second “The Betrayal,” and the third “The Redemption.” This is the largest DLC pack for the game and features an alternate history where George Washington becomes a tyrannical ruler and must be stopped.

Assassins Creed 3 was fairly well received by critics. IGN gave the game an 8.5/10 while Eurogamer gave it a 9/10. It was praised for everything from its combat style to naval missions to the visuals and narratives throughout the game. Though there were some complaints from the critics, most of them were minor and they were overall pleased with the game. The game was also nominated for six different Spike Video Game Awards in 2012.

If you’ve been a fan of the Assassin’s Creed games, it’s definitely worth picking up Assassin’s Creed III. It is a worthy successor to the franchise and those who loved the past games will love this one. And if you’ve never played the Assassin’s Creed games, it’s never too late to start!
